In this beginners workshop, participants will be given a crash course in contemporary electronic music composition using a combination of synths, samples, and live recorded instruments, and learn how to weave these together to create an original track using Ableton Live software. Participants will work as a group and be led step-by-step through the process of constructing tracks, including sound capture, design, programming, arrangement, and export. In addition to creating your own track, you will contribute to the construction of a group track, which will be mixed by Kuya Neil and exhibited in 2022.

You will need:

  • Your laptop + charger

  • Wired headphones

  • Pre-downloaded free 90-day trial of Ableton Live 11 Suite (download link here)

Participate:

If you’d like to participate, please complete the expression of interest form by 10am, Thursday 10 March. Due to the small number of places available in the group and to ensure priority is given to beginners and those with minimal experience, a selection process will be applied. If selected for the workshop, you will be contacted by Saturday 12 March to confirm your place.
