Opening: We Live by Inference

Join us for the opening of We live by inference, an exhibition of new video works by Saluhan Collective at Trocadero Projects. The exhibition examines the dynamics between audience and performer through Erving Goffman's concepts of the ‘front stage’ and ‘back stage’.

Goffman's theory suggests that individuals present themselves differently in public (‘front stage’) than in private settings (‘back stage’). The video series expands on this idea, exploring how Filipino material, cultural, and ideological symbols are presented and interpreted across varying contexts, alongside the shifting roles of the artists as performers.

The exhibition builds on an earlier video work, Dodong and The Dais, developed during Saluhan's Mainit Illusion / Mainit Fantasy commission with Arts House.
