Agimat
A series of free screenprinting workshops for the Filipino community in Naarm explored the idea of contemporary agimat (a talisman or lucky charm) and fostered collective learning through the sharing of rare and hard-to-find Filipino reference texts and media.
Across two weekends at Sunshine Print Artspace, participants experimented with monoprint, photo-emulsion, painted, and hand-cut stencil techniques under the guidance of printmaker MJ Flamiano. The workshops culminated in a communal lunch and the creation of a small folio of prints by each participant and two collectively-made monotype prints, Kamayan {for our ancestors} and Spam {offerings}.
